Clinical Co-op: Harvard Medical School-affiliated Hospital

Clinical Role & Responsibilities

During my clinical co-op at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, I worked as a Patient Care Technician in a fast-paced, safety-critical clinical environment. The role required precision, reliability, and strict adherence to regulatory and procedural standards while operating medical equipment and supporting clinical workflows.

Engineering Perspective & Impact

I collaborated closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams, gaining firsthand experience working within complex systems where human safety, accuracy, and time sensitivity are paramount. Through daily interaction with patient monitoring devices and clinical technologies, I developed an understanding of how design decisions, usability, and system reliability directly impact outcomes in real-word settings.

Professional Development

This experience strengthened my ability to communicate across disciplines, operate under pressure, and make careful, detail-driven decisions in environments where errors are not acceptable. This experience informs how I approach engineering problems involving safety, reliability, and human interaction with complex systems.
